Congolese Partner Community Attacked

Congolese Partner Community Attacked

Andreas Steffensen – August 22, 2016

Just last week, World Poverty Solutions staff gathered with a group of 20 pastors and community leaders in the conflict-ravaged town of Beni in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We began teaching this group a year ago, and have seen such promise and growth, as these leaders realized the incredible resources God had deposited in them, and all around them, to combat the deep poverty in their communities.

On Saturday, two days after our team left the town, Beni was attacked by a rebel group. The BBC confirmed that at least 30 were killed. A local pastor who attended our trainings tells us that the town is under virtual lockdown as the military tries to restore peace in the town.

Would you pray with us that God restores peace to this deeply traumatized community? Pray for the pastors and Christian community members as they comfort the brokenhearted and try to be examples of forgiveness and grace.
