The United States of America is a constitutional federal republic composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions.

A highly developed country, the United States has the world’s largest economy by nominal GDP. At 3.8 million square miles and with over 322 million people, the United States is one of the world’s most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations and is home to the world’s largest immigrant population.

Although the US ranks high in all measurable areas of socioeconomic health and enjoys abundant natural resources there are signs of poverty found across the country. No one condition stands out, however. There are many indications that pockets of poverty exist from inner cities to rural communities across the country.

Statistics of violent crimes, material poverty, drug usage and an increase in irreligion are just a few of the symptoms of broken relationships with God, self, and others. These unhealthy relationships create mindsets that cause disunity, destruction, and discouragement in individuals, families, and communities.
